TIAX was formed on April 4, 2002. In 2010, TIAX moved its headquarters from Cambridge, MA to its current location in Lexington, MA.
In 2014, TIAX spun out the Advanced Battery Materials & Design Division to form CAMX Power as a separate company, co-located with TIAX and operated alongside. CAMX Power develops, improves and optimizes battery materials, cell and pack components, and cell and pack designs, as well as BMS components to deliver high performance battery technology solutions. In addition, CAMX Power is a recognized leader in battery safety and has developed a variety of proprietary tools, test methods and equipment to investigate battery safety, understand battery safety issues, and develop technologies to address battery safety concerns.
