Organizations that manufacture building systems and components related to HVAC, refrigeration, laundry and cooking equipment, water heating, and lighting have seen dramatic changes in the past decade. Through our work with the Department of Energy and with professional associations, such as ASHRAE, TIAX has participated in the national dialogue on evolving market requirements and drivers that will shape product trends into the future. Our technology and industry expertise extends from specific equipment, materials, and control systems used in buildings to the development of new technologies that will form the basis for new products in the future. Interaction is currently limited among building systems, renewable energy sources, energy storage, plug-in electric vehicles, and the grid. In the next few years, integrated approaches to energy efficiency and management will need to include consideration of all of these subsystems. We have a long track record in helping to plan and design for technology evolution. TIAX is routinely involved in:
- Developing and testing new products and advanced technologies
- Redesigning existing products
- Conducting competitive product benchmarking
- Evaluating the technical and economic viability of emerging technologies
- Estimating energy and environmental impacts of emerging technologies
- Assessing the market potential for new and existing products and technologies
